I think the later bikes still have it, but Yam was able to paper over it a bit better in later models. They have a revised ECU and are not lurchy like my bike was. It is a point of "discussion" if the later FZs still have fuel cut. If a motorcycle can meet emissions without it, it is better off without it, as the fuel cut is hard to smooth over when reapplying power. It is a trick used by manufacturers to meet emissions, but they are not required to have it. Many vehicles, including the FZ1, have fuel cut on decel. The EPA has no regulation mandating fuel cut, they just test for overall emissions. My brilliant but rather hard to follow friend Whittlebeast has a friend who runs a 6.5 million dollar EPA testing and certifacation facility here in Colorado. Ivan has been saying for years that the EPA mandates fuel cut. Close off the fuel on coast down, less emissions.
